Does this look familiar? Yup, we've all been there! "I'm definitely not a morning person" is probably one of the most common phrases used these days, because honestly, who is? When you're all snuggled up in your warm, soft bed hitting the snooze button is the easiest thing in the world. Especially with the colder weather coming up, getting up during those cold and gloomy mornings can really be a tough challenge. That is why I decided to create a little list of simple but effective habits that can get you in the routine of waking up early and actually feeling good about it! I can sleep for days and days, so trust me when I say these actually work and it does get easier! |
- Go to bed early
Obviously... This one is a bit of a given, but you should really try it! And my this I mean, actually do the effort. Go to bed even an hour earlier than you usually do and you will feel such a difference in the morning! Try reading a book when in bed or a sleeping app so you can fall asleep faster.
It's no myth that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. When you stop hitting that snooze button you'll have much more time to relax and have a proper, sit down breakfast. What kind of mythical creatures enjoy a full breakfast every morning? Morning people.
Enjoy some yogurt with fresh fruit or scramble some eggs with bacon. It'll feel so good to not have to rush out the door with nothing in your stomach, but a sip of cold coffee. You have to admit that sounds wonderful! Eat your breakfast- Reward yourself
YES! You successfully woke up early and didn't hit the snooze button! Now, you can enjoy your cup of coffee while reading your favorite book, catching up on your fave blogs, doing some meditation or getting some writing done before the start of your (probably) very busy day ahead! - Exercise in the AM
This is probably one of the most efficient tips. I mean, who doesn't feel full of energy and amazingly productive when you're able to log in a workout before 9am? Lay out your clothes the night before so when you wake up you're ready to go. I know, such a drag right? But don't even think about it; literally jump out of bed as soon as you open your eyes! - Let the light shine
Alarms can be quite annoying, so how about letting some natural light wake you up with no fuzz. You know, like in those commercials where it looks like waking up at the crack of dawn is the most amazing thing ever.. Have some curtains that let the light in and you'll rise when the sun rises. Trust me, you won't wake up grumpy without the dreaded alarm sound. - Stick to your new routine
Once you start feeling better about rising and shining early, don't go breaking your routine by sleeping till noon on Saturday. We all have internal biological clocks that get used to our sleeping schedule, so if you sleep 12+ hours on the weekend, you'll have to start all over again each Monday! No thanks!
Waking up early may sound like a huge sacrifice to some people, but it can truly be rewarding! It's a nice feeling to start the day off right and set the tone for the rest of your day! You'll come to love your mornings much more when you become a morning person, plus you'll be twice as productive!
Try some of these out and let me know how it goes for you!
Also, go ahead and share some of your own tips to have the dedication to jump out of bed early!
Feel free to share this post with your friends & family on social media, help them become a better morning person too!
Happy Sunday!
